Professional coaching focuses on helping individuals achieve career-related objectives. I work collaboratively with client partners to identify strengths, overcome workplace challenges, and develop new skills. Typical areas of professional coaching include career advancement, performance improvement, managing transitions, and developing effective communication strategies. Through professional coaching, I support client partners in navigating the expectations of diverse workplaces, helping them align personal values with organizational objectives.

Leadership coaching is designed for current and aspiring leaders seeking to refine their leadership capabilities. This form of coaching addresses topics such as strategic thinking, decision-making, emotional intelligence, and team management. Through Leadership coaching, I encourage self-awareness and help client partners cultivate their unique leadership style, enabling them to inspire and motivate others. Leadership coaching frequently incorporates values of inclusivity and collaboration, essential qualities in today’s dynamic and diverse environments.

Wellness coaching is broader in scope and through this I help individuals achieve personal goals, improve overall well-being, and create fulfilling lives. I assist client partners in clarifying their values, setting goals, and overcoming barriers in areas such as relationships, health, and personal development. Sessions might explore topics like work-life balance, personal values, and life transitions. I emphasize wholistic approaches, integrating physical, mental, spiritual and emotional wellness.

As your team coach, I bring an open, collaborative approach tailored to your organization’s goals. I help teams build trust, clarify their shared mission, and establish effective communication patterns. I draw on proven frameworks to guide teams through conflict resolution, strengthen collective accountability, and foster an environment where every member’s strengths are recognized and leveraged. My work empowers teams to navigate change, overcome obstacles, and achieve results they can be proud of.

In group coaching, I facilitate a safe and energizing space where professionals connect, learn, and grow together. I design sessions that encourage authentic dialogue, thoughtful reflection, and practical action. Drawing from my experience, I help participants surface their unique strengths, uncover new perspectives, and support one another’s ambitions. Whether focused on leadership, resilience, or navigating workplace challenges, my group coaching helps individuals expand their networks and find fresh energy for personal and professional growth.

Every organization and team, and the individuals they are composed of, are unique. To identify and utilize the skills, experience and personalities within, I use various tools such as Big 5, DiSC, Collaboration Breakthrough, and Fierce Conversations. While I am trained in these tools, there is always opportunity to identify other tools that may fit with the team or organization.
Why choose Michelle DeGroot as a career coach?
“After 2.5 years in the same position I realized I was no longer learning/growing. I was feeling stuck and knew I hit my ceiling.
That is were Michelle came in. Michelle’s career coaching style is a breath of fresh air in a stuffy office.
Career Coaching sessions with Michelle are relaxing, informative and most importantly introspective.
What I liked about our sessions was that Michelle creates a stress-free atmosphere, asks probing questions and creates space for oneself to look from within to find answers. After all, we are experts in ourselves. These sessions left me feeling, impowered and allowed me to explore my inner values.
The results
I gained insights in my own values and experiences, which I used to propel myself foreword. I now have a new position that better aligns with my values (more time with friends/family/hobbies, less stress, room to learn,). “
In 2024, I had the fortunate opportunity to work with Ms. Michelle DeGroot through the OMA Coaching pilot program. This physician health program provided one-on-one coaching so that I could optimize my professional and personal well-being. As a certified coach, Michelle empowered me to realign my core values to feel mentally healthy through a self-discovery process. She helped me maximize my personal and professional potential creatively through thought-provoking questions, active listening and self-reflection. I am forever grateful to have had this opportunity to work with Michelle and have chosen to continue being coached by her so that I can grow and develop emotionally and remain healthy in achieving balance professionally and personally.
